Kewarra Beach Resort offers all the luxury, service and facilities you would expect in an exclusive nature lodge and it makes for a great base to explore the Great Barrier Reef, the surrounding rainforest and the tablelands. While the vast gardens and spectacular beachfront of the resort take you away from it all, you are minutes from Palm Cove, Port Douglas, shopping centres and attractions,. Kewarra is built around the still waters of a lagoon and fringed by the Coral Sea.

There are two freeform swimming pools. From the Waterfall Spa to the secluded cave, the Kuda Meta pool provides a central relaxing point. Secluded among the Deluxe Bungalows, the second freeform rock pool provides an intimate location for a quiet swim. The gardens that flow onto a private beach attract birds, butterflies and small marsupials and water birds gather on the lagoon at twilight. There’s an Adventure Desk for tours, access to a world class golf course and picnic baskets can be arranged.

Accommodation

Individual guest mouds, (islander term for a small tropical house) are set beside the lagoon, scattered in the landscaped gardens, and amongst the beachfront melaleuca trees. All rooms are beautifully finished and equipped with modern conveniences. They are air-conditioned with ceiling fans and while you have tea/coffee making facilities and mini bar, room service is available.

The spacious Pandanus Moud deluxe individual bungalows are set in the forest surrounding the lagoon and tropical gardens. The Pipi Moud deluxe beachfront bungalows are nestled against the melaleucas and among the lush beachfront gardens.

The Timara Suite is a restored plantation cottage, surrounded by a lagoon. This suite has two bedrooms each with ensuites and the bridge access across the lagoon gives this enchanting home an intimate atmosphere.

The Bauhinia Suites are one and two bedroom suites built around a stunning water feature. They have private patios, spacious living area and separate bedrooms with private ensuites.

Dining

The Island Kings Restaurant is named in honour of the great chiefs of the Torres Strait Islands. The restaurant looks out into the gardens and incorporates the natural sounds of the forest and the Coral Sea. It’s gourmet cuisine from breakfast to dinner and there’s a wide selection of wines. Special dietary requirements can be catered for and there’s 24-hour reception and room service.

Getting There

Kewarra is just 15 minutes north of Cairns. Kewarra’s sister property, Thala Beach Lodge is a 25 min transfer north of Kewarra and there are combination ‘Escapes’ that offer accommodation at both locations.
