Australian Resorts - Silky Oaks Lodge

Silky Oaks is nestled on the edge of Mossman Gorge. It’s a special, luxurious lodge where you feel as though you are part of the Daintree, the world’s oldest living rainforest. Overlooking a pristine lagoon, this is a perfect base to explore Tropical North Queensland and/or to stay put and enjoy the exquisite comfort and service offered by the lodge.

For those looking for activities there are guided walks, river canoeing and snorkelling, bicycle riding, picnics, tennis, sailing, horse riding, birdwatching, Barrier Reef diving, hot air ballooning, massages and more. There’s also a swimming pool, gym and Internet lounge. For relaxation and rejuvenation, you can treat yourself to the Healing Waters Spa.

Accommodation

Guests can choose between the Riverhouses and the Treehouses and the names pretty much say it all.

The Riverhouses are on the riverfront with rainforest views and the gentle sounds of the Mossman River. Elegant and spacious, they have polished timber floors, an oversized spa bath and uninterrupted views. Guests receive a bottle of sparkling wine and fruit basket on arrival.

The Treehouses are set into the rainforest and surrounded by lush gardens. They are private with floor to ceiling glass doors that open to a wide verandah, where a hammock is waiting. They are spacious, stylish and have large spa bathrooms.

Dining

You can enjoy a cold beer or a cocktail in the Treehouse Bar (open 11am to 11pm) and the Treehouse Restaurant offers tropical buffet breakfast, lunch and 4-course dinners with a daily changing menu. Apart from the innovative menu that has the freshest local produce and fine wines, the sensational rainforest and river views make for memorable dining. Special dietary requirements are catered for. Afternoon tea can be taken in the Jungle Perch or the Kubirri Room.

Getting There

From Cairns, it’s an hour north to Port Douglas and then another 20 minutes into the Daintree Rainforest. Car hire or limousine transfer can be arranged.
