Fiji Resorts - Vatulele Island Resort

Vatulele is an intimate deluxe resort offering stylish tranquility for honeymooners and couples. South of Fiji's largest island, Viti Levu, the island faces the South Pacific Ocean, and is protected by a magnificent barrier reef, which forms an extensive lagoon in front of the resort.

The essence of Vatulele is romance and, as part of creating a total escape, there are no money transactions on the island (all inclusive tariff), no telephones, no newspapers, no radios and no television.

Apart from the resort, the other island residents live in four villages with a total population of 1000. They are involved in subsistence fishing, farming and making tapa cloth. They are unspoiled by Western influences, and maintain their natural gentleness, warmth and humour.

The Bures are spacious, each with its stretch of white sand and easy access to the water. The doors open to an expansive terrace and, from the living room, you walk up three steps to the bedroom that has a king size bed and a private dressing area. The bures are very private, approximately 50 metres apart and are set in natural jungle.

A premium bure called The Point has unsurpassed views of the lagoon and the entire beach. Luxuriously appointed, there are two levels, air conditioning, two freshwater pools, and full time staff. This bure is ideally suited to high profile guests seeking absolute privacy.

Vatulele is famous for its food (especially seafood) and fresh ingredients are flown in daily from Australia and New Zealand. Because of the all-inclusive tariff, there are also ample opportunities to sample the contents of the first class cellar, including unlimited French champagne. Meals are taken on a terrace outside the large central pavilion overlooking the lagoon. By night, tables are set under the stars and lit by lanterns and candlelight. At full moon, the 'dining room' may be set by the water's edge. Dining is usually communal, and hosted by the management in the style of the Captain's table on a ship. There is also the option for private romantic dinners, such as a cave in the jungle, on an exclusive island in the lagoon, or on the beach with moon and lantern light.

The crystal waters of Vatulele offer every kind of water-based activity, including sailing, paddling, snorkelling, fishing and diving (22 dive sites within 15 minutes travel). You can arrange for intimate picnics on a secluded beach away from the resort - and even reserve your own 'Robinson Crusoe' island for that special romantic interlude.

Vatulele provides a unique and memorable vacation experience. The resort is proud of the fact that their guests leave with a smile on their face and a tear in the eye. The barefoot staff members are standing by to welcome you to paradise.
